Todaypp Jenna Bush Hager shared his “dream” of one day moving in with his sister to create his own version of Ya-Ya sisterhoodbut there was one aspect of this life which Hoda Kotb didn’t exactly buy.
“We also had a dream that when our husbands died peacefully later in life, we would have a sister-sister Ya-Ya house. Like we were going to grow our hair really long and gray and have 27 cats,” Bush Hager told Kotb. “We’d just read. And I’d garden.”
Bush Hager’s desire to “garden” seemed to surprise Kotb. “You’re really into this. What happened?” she asked.
“No, I am, and people don’t believe me,” Bush Hager replied.
And it looks like Kotb was also skeptical of what Bush Hager meant by “gardening.”
“Wait a minute, ‘gardening’ is cutting the flower and putting it in a vase?” she asked Bush Hager. “Wait, who planted the flower?”
Bush Hager noted that what Kotb described is called “arrangement,” something she has recently come into as well.
“Well, I started planting too. But I moved into a home that gave me a reward and I think, because I miss the city a lot, that God is saying, ‘Hey take off your shoes, come out here and mow,’ she replied.
But Kotb was relentless in his teasing. “So how do you garden you walk like this?” she asked as she mimed herself cutting a flower with scissors. “Cut, cut, you put it in a vase.”
“Yes I do, it’s called harvesting,” Bush Hager replied. She took the opportunity to show off her skills, noting that she knows how to “cut it on a diagonal” and refrigerate peonies “before they hatch.”
“I’m just becoming one with nature,” she continued. “And people make fun of me! But… I know I’m just getting there.”
We believe in you, Jenna!
