Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce not only score touchdowns but hole in one, now that Adam Sandler confirmed it The Super Bowl champion will “have something nice” in the “Happy Gilmore” sequel.
The Brooklyn-born “Uncut Gems” star, 57, confirmed Tuesday that Kelce, 34, will appear in the highly anticipated golf comedy sequel.
“Travis mentioned it and then we have something nice for Travis. He’ll come by and he’s a very nice guy,” Sandler told “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”
In May, Kelce said about “New Heights” podcast he hosts with brother Jason Kelce, that he would do “anything” to be in the follow-up to 1996 Sandler Staples.
“You guys would love him in real life, what a big handsome guy and funny and cool as hell,” the “50 First Dates” star said of Taylor Swift’s boyfriend. “He’s a stud and he’s so much fun.”
The sequel was reported in March and was formally announced by Netflix in May. Sandler noted that filming will begin “in a couple of weeks” and will take place in New Jersey — where open casting was held this week in Morristown, about 55 miles west of Midtown Manhattan.
“It’s good. We worked hard on the script. We didn’t want to let anyone down,” Sandler said, noting that while people have long asked him for a second installment, he was sure it wouldn’t live up to expectations.
“But me and my friend Tim Herlihywe came up with this idea. We’re really excited about it.”
A fellow Brooklynite, Emmy-nominated “Saturday Night Live” writer Herlihy, also 57, is a longtime associate of the Sandlers. He has written or co-written many of the latter’s most beloved films, among them “Happy Gilmore,” “Billy Madison” and “The Wedding Singer.” They most recently worked together on the 2020 Netflix outing “Hubie Halloween.”
