Rapper Travis Scott is seen in newly released body cam footage told police they scared him before his arrest in Miami Beach in June.
The footage, obtained by TMZ, shows Scott, 33, expressing fear of being overtaken by officers, but also becoming increasingly agitated and arguing with officers.
“You scare me,” the “Sicko Mode” artist is heard telling the police. “There’s 50 cops around me bro,” he continues, seeming to have a problem with the cops not allowing him back on a yacht to retrieve his belongings.
The incident began on June 20, when Miami Beach Police were called to a marina where Scott was reportedly arguing with a yacht worker.
Despite the officer’s instructions to sit down, Scott stood up and continued to scream, while the officer noted the odor of alcohol on his breath.
At first, Scott was allowed to go when the man who called the police did not want to press charges. However, Scott returned to the scene shortly after to collect his belongings – and tensions rose.
“I rented this boat, the owners came on this boat. They kicked down my door at 12 o’clock. I don’t know what’s going on, ask him,” he says in a clip, insisting: “There was no fighting involved. “
Eventually, Scott’s behavior led to his arrest for disorderly intoxication and trespassing.
He was later released from the Miami-Dade County Jail after posting a $650 bond. His attorney, Bradford Cohen, described the incident as a “misunderstanding.”
While the disorderly intoxication charge was later dropped by prosecutors, Scott still faces a trespassing charge.
