TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Tropical Storm Kirk is expected to become a hurricane Tuesday and a major hurricane Thursday, the National Hurricane Center says.
Located about 935 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, Kirk is moving west-northwest near 14 mph.
Officials are asking residents to avoid these two Sarasota beaches
Maximum sustained winds are 60 mph.
General movement towards the west-northwest is expected to continue through Tuesday. A turn to the northwest is forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, according to the NHC.
There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect at this time.
