Twelve inland boy golfers advance from the Central Regional – Press Enterprise of the CIF Southern section


The CIF Southern Division Central Regional tournament was held on Tuesday, June 1 at Redhawk Golf Course in Temecula, and 12 boy golfers from the Inland Zone finished in the top 20 to advance to the next round of the competition.

Yorba Linda’s Patrick Song was the regional champion after shooting a round at 3-under 69.

Three inland golfers finished one stroke behind the song: Ryan Abuan of Great Oaks, Jonah Camarillo of Chino Hills and Jaden Huggins of Vista Murrieta. Kamron Hopson finished fifth with 71 runs.

Rancho Cucamonga’s Joseph Sotello and Atiwanda’s Matt Lefebvre scored an even 72 and advanced.

Damien’s Clayton Smith, King’s Bear Huff and Vista Murrieta’s Glen Meadows finished in a tie for 14th place with a round of 74.

Four inland golfers finished with rounds of 75 and the final three went to card-off to determine the qualifiers. Mason Montgomery of Yucapa, Nixon Lauritzen of Temescal Canyon and Matthew Diehl of Loma Loma Academy advanced.

The top 20 golfers in each of the three regions advance to the CIF-SS Individual Championship, which will take place on Thursday, June 10 at River Ridge Golf Club’s Victoria Lakes Course in Oxnard.
