SAN JOSE — Fourteen residents, including six adults and eight children, were displaced after a fire broke out Saturday in a multi-unit townhouse in east San Jose. Two dogs were killed in the fire and a firefighter was injured.
According to the San Jose Fire Department, the fire started around 2:50 p.m. and prompted a two-alarm response. Adjacent structures were evacuated as a precaution.
The injured firefighter suffered burns to his neck and ears. He was taken to a local hospital, treated and later released.
The Red Cross has been contacted to help the displaced residents. Animal Control was also involved in the response to the dogs’ deaths.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
