R&B star Usher is prioritizing his health ahead of a highly anticipated Past Present Future tour, announcing that he is postponing several shows due to a neck injury.
The 45-year-old star revealed that he suffered the injury earlier this week during rehearsals, forcing him to cancel the tour’s Wednesday opening night.
“Earlier this week I suffered a neck injury while rehearsing to provide my fans with the greatest USHER show of all time,” he wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday. “My hope was that with physical therapy and medical treatment, I would be able to overcome the injury and be ready for opening night. Unfortunately, the injury has not healed yet, and my doctors have instructed me not to perform any shows this week.”
The singer said three postponed shows that were supposed to take place on August 14, 16 and 17 at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena have already been rescheduled for December 9, 10 and 12 at the arena.
Despite the setback, Usher said his recovery is on track and he plans to kick off the tour in Washington, DC, on August 20, provided he receives appropriate rest and treatment.
“I love my fans and thank you for understanding that this injury needs to heal so that I can give you the 100% excellence that you expect from a USHER show,” he added.
