Samantha Paige allegedly struck and killed Franklin Ripley, 72, early Saturday morning, the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office said.
Authorities have identified the victim in an alleged hit-and-run on Stockbridge, the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office said.
The DA said Samantha Paige allegedly struck and killed Franklin Ripley with her car early Saturday morning. Ripley was 72 years old, the DA said.
Police responded to a 911 call around 6:44 a.m. Saturday morning and reported an “unresponsive male” on the side of the road, according to an earlier statement from the DA. When police arrived near the 4.1 mile marker on Route 102, the DA said officers found a body now identified as Ripley’s.
According to the DA, evidence collected at the scene indicated a hit-and-run. Prosecutors charged Paige with leaving the scene of a crime and causing injury resulting in death, court documents show. Her bail was set at $7,500, but prosecutors said Paige is being held without bail on probation from an unrelated case.
The incident remains under investigation by Stockbridge police, the DA said, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
