Two toddlers wearing nothing but diapers were seen in the middle of a Texas highway after a two-car crash, according to authorities and video obtained by USA TODAY.
The major crash occurred Tuesday in the main lanes of the Interstate 10 East Freeway in Freeport, Texas, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez wrote in an X post. The crash involved two cars, with one of the vehicles overturning several times and causing an ejection, the sheriff added.
The overturned car was occupied by an adult and two children, who were all taken to the hospital, according to Gonzalez. The people in the other vehicle were not injured, he says.
Gonzalez did not say how old the children in the vehicle were, or provide details about their or the adult’s condition.
USA TODAY reached out to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday but has not heard back.
“I thought they actually went away”
Victor Cordova narrated KTRK-TV that he witnessed the wreck while driving home.
“I thought they actually passed away. I thought they were dead,” Cordova said.
Cordova soon realized that not everyone in the vehicle died when he saw the toddlers. Towards the end of the video, two men can be seen caring for and comforting the children.
