Shocking video captured the terrifying moment a pickup truck mounted a sidewalk in Harlem and plowed into two pedestrians on Monday.
The scary collision happened just before 4:50pm at the corner of St Nicholas Ave. and West 148th Street when the truck driver “failed to navigate the roadway” and ended up driving down the sidewalk, police said.
The pickup struck two men, sending them flying onto the roadway before hitting a fire hydrant and a UPS truck parked on the street, surveillance footage of the crash shows.
One of the victims jumped up and ran back from the truck after the crash while the other victim remained on the ground behind the pickup, according to the clip.
A subsequent video filmed by a bystander shows paramedics tending to the victim as he holds his head and lies on the road next to the wreckage.
Emergency personnel placed him on a stretcher and loaded him into an ambulance as a small crowd watched.
A man who appears to be the second victim described to police at the scene how the driver cut the corner and jumped the curb before knocking him and the man to the ground, according to the Citizen app’s video.
“[The driver] cleared us both out. I went up in the air, he went under,” he tells the police in the clip.
The driver, who was uninjured, remained at the scene, the police said.
“It could have been any of us,” said the woman who shot the Citizen video, adding that she heard the crash from upstairs in a nearby building.
The two victims were taken to NYC Health and Hospitals Harlem in stable condition. More information about their injuries was not immediately available.
No charges had been filed as of Monday evening as the investigation is ongoing.
