Although most of September has been unseasonably warm and dry, the Chicago area felt cooler temperatures along with storms earlier Tuesday, briefly gives rise to a tornado warning in parts of the region.
After a few wet days towards the end of a dry month, warmer temperatures and drier conditions are expected to return for a few days, making for a pleasant end to the week.
High temperatures are likely to hover in the mid to high 70s across much of the region for the rest of the week, although temperatures are expected to be cooler near the Lake Michigan shoreline.
Although a dry day is expected Wednesday across much of the area, some lingering lake effect showers are possible in northwestern Indiana overnight into early Wednesday morning.
Conditions will likely remain dry through Friday night, when some precipitation is possible in the far southern reaches of the Chicago area before more rain chances emerge for the weekend.
Forecast highs are expected to stay in the 70s by the weekend, although a chance of rain in the middle of next week could drop highs into the mid-60s.
