Republican vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance closed first and only debate against his Democratic counterpart, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, by rejecting the policies put in place during the Biden administration.
The senator from Ohio said in his closing remarks at the debate, hosted by CBS Newsthat he believes all Americans should be able to afford basic needs such as heat, housing and food.
“I believe that whether you are rich or poor, you should be able to afford a good meal for your family. It has become more difficult because of Kamala Harris’s politics. I believe that whether you are rich or poor, you should be able to afford to buy a house, you should be able to live in safe neighborhoods, you shouldn’t have your communities flooded with fentanyl, and it’s also become more difficult because of the politics of Kamala Harris,” he said.
Vance said Harris is proposing many policies she would like to enact on her first day in office, but “she’s been vice president for three and a half years.”
“Day one was 1,400 days ago and her policies have exacerbated these problems,” Vance said.
He warned that viewers will not be able to achieve the American dream if they elect Harris president in November.
“We need change. We need a new direction. We need a president who has already done this once before and done it well. Please vote for Donald Trump,” he said.
