LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – After a tough National League Division Series against the San Francisco Giants, the Dodgers will face the Atlanta Braves in the NLCS for the second year in a row.

The Dodgers (106-56) will try to build that momentum after coming back twice this season; once in the NL Wild Card game and twice in the NLDS.

Children in Blue are expected give the ball to Scherzer According to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, if Scherzer plays catch-up on Saturday and feels good enough to pitch, he will indeed be a starter in Game 1 of Los Angeles.

On the other hand, the Braves entered the series after overcoming a 1-0 series lead against the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLDS and won three straight games, including a double-close victory.

About the Brave

Despite losing the All-Star Ronald Acuna Jr. After suffering a ripped ACL injury in July, Atlanta captured the NL East division title with an overall record of 88-73. Despite having the worst record of any playoff team, the Braves find themselves with home advantage and a good shot at reaching the World Series.

The Braves will start with left-handed Max Fried (14-7, 3.04 ERA) in Game 1. The Harvard Westlake product went 1-2 against the Dodgers with a 4.30 ERA and 29 stakeouts over five starts.

The first goalkeeper to lead Atlanta’s offense is Freddie Freeman. The reigning NL MVP has hit .300 with 31 points, 83 RBIs in 159 games for the Braves this season.

Freeman continued to produce for the Braves in the NLDS, hitting a go-ad homerun on Brewers substitute Josh Hader’s eighth inning in Game 4 of the NLDS. Thrown by Freeman’s homer, Atlanta closed the series against Milwaukee.

Former Dodgers outfielder Joc Pederson, who produced with Freeman for the Braves. Purchased by Atlanta in a trade with the Chicago Cubs in July, Pederson is showing Braves fans why he earned the nickname “Joctober” last season. Pederson blasted a double homerun in NLDS for the Braves, including three running homers with a pinch hit in Game 3.

Also, Los Angeles won their regular season series 4-2 against Atlanta. But after overcoming a 3-1 deficit in the series against the Braves last season, manager Dave Roberts knows the Dodgers will face an extra motivated team on Saturday.

“Whether you call it opportunity or salvation, it’s definitely in their minds,” Roberts said. “Most of the guys we saw against this club last year.”

Additional Notes

1. The first pitch for the game is scheduled for 5:08 p.m. Pacific and can be watched on TBS.

This will be the fifth season-ending match between the two clubs. The Dodgers dominated the series 3-1.

Dodgers hopes Max Muncy can contribute sometime throughout this series. Muncy suffered an elbow injury in the last game of the regular season. While he might swing a stick, it’s doubtful we’re seeing Muncy on the starting lineup anytime soon.

“If he feels like he can do anything at any point in the series, it’s definitely something we should consider,” Roberts said. “It’s still unlikely, but we’re holding out hope as best we can.
