Wheel of Fortune is back and better than ever? Maybe not. According to some fans of the game show, they are not fond of some of the changes in the show’s set.
Ryan Seacrest made his debut on Wheel on Monday 9 September takes over the iconic role from former host Pat Sajak after 41 seasons. While many fans enjoyed Seacrest’s presence behind the wheel, others couldn’t get past the noticeably different set up on the show, complete with new graphics and all.
“I understand that Wheel of Fortune replaced Pat Sajak because he retired, but why did they have to change the whole set?!” noted one user, while another said, “WTF DID THEY DO TO WHEEL OF FORTUNE???? DECIMATED MY BABY.” A third fan explained, “This graphic is so horrible ๐ makes it feel so cheap.”
While the wheel and letter board both looked relatively similar, the background and graphics themselves looked very different. Instead of the usual bright television screen behind the contestants (often displaying the various prizes up for grabs), neon wheel-like shapes were in place. The set had a blue tint and circular graphics played behind Seacrest as he spoke.
In addition to the obvious changes in the appearance of the show, many fans had positive reviews for Seacrest’s first day at work. “So far Ryan Seacrest is doing a great job as host,” said one fan. Another commented on his excitement, saying: “Ryan Seacrest did an amazing job on Wheel of Fortune! Excited for this new era ๐.” Another noted the comparison between Seacrest and Sajak, saying: “Watching new Wheel of Fortune host Ryan Seacrest – never noticed before, but his voice actually sounds a lot like Pat Sajak’s!”
