Chicago’s most notorious sausage stand Wieners Circle was broken into for the second time early Monday, the restaurant operators said on social media.
The break-in took place at Lincoln Park, known for dishing out insults along with hot dogs, around 3:30 a.m. and involved three or four suspects, police said. The group smashed the glass door of the business and took what police said may have been a safe before leaving in a black SUV.
Wieners Circle management did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday afternoon. The business addressed “hamburgers” and confirmed the burglary Monday morning with a joke post to Xformerly known as Twitter, which referenced the 1988 movie “Coming to America”.
“We have hired a guy called Hakeem from Zumunda, come back and he will be forced to beat you with a mop handle if you come back,” the post read.
Police said no arrests were made and area detectives were investigating.
