After hosting a hot dog eating live event, Netflix aim for hot wings.
Bloomberg reports the streamer is in talks to create special live episodes of Sean Evans‘ popular YouTube series Hot oneswhich would make it the latest show to join Netflix’s live lineup, including WWE and the NFL.
The outlet reports that Netflix is currently negotiating with Buzzfeed Inc., which owns the YouTube series. An agreement is expected to be reached this month.
While Hot ones does not currently stream on Netflix, the report notes that the streamer is interested in having Evans host live episodes created specifically for Netflix.
Decider reached out to Netflix representatives for comment.
Netflix can become a niche audience with this acquisition. The hit series from First We Feast, which has 14 million subscribers, regularly receives millions of views. Every episode with a celebrity guest last season reached well over a million views, with Jennifer Lawrences viral interview reached a whopping 16 million views.
Recent guests also include Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Conan O’Brienand Sabrina Carpenter.
Hot ones could be the latest show added to Netflix’s growing live lineup. The streamer will start streaming Raw and other things WWE events in 2025 under a new $5 billion deal signed earlier this year.
During this 10-year agreement, Raw will stream live every Monday night for 52 weeks a year in the US, UK, Canada and Latin America.
Netflix also has exclusive rights to stream NFL games on Christmas Day live starting this year.
The streamer had some hits and some misses amid its latest forays into live programming. Chris Rockcomedy special from 2023 Selective outrage labeled Netflix first ever live eventcomplete with pre and post show coverage. The streamer saw more success this year as well John Mulaneys live variety show Everyone is in LA.as well as special live sporting events including Unfinished beef and Netflix Slam.
It looks like the streamer has expanded their capabilities since going live Love is blind Season 4 reunion 2023 delayed by 90 minutes due to technical difficulties.
Next up, Netflix will host Jake Paul and Mike Tyson in a live boxing event later this year.
