Salt iguana has closed its Olathe location at 10478 S. Ridgeview Road.
The Mexican restaurant announced on social media Saturday that the location would close the next day.
“It is with heavy hearts that we make the very difficult decision to permanently close our Olathe restaurant,” the restaurant wrote in his post. “We have loved being a part of the Olathe community!”
Fans flooded Salty Iguana’s page with support.
“NO, what a terrible thing is happening! We need you! And we want you!” one user wrote.
“Sad you have to close one, but so thankful you’re still around!!!” said another.
That location had been open since 2009. Salty Iguana’s original Prairie Village location at 8228 Mission Road has been open since 1992. Its other restaurants are in Independence at 17717 US Highway 40 and in Lawrence at 4931 W. 6th St.
Its Overland Park location, 8420 W. 135th St., closed in 2019. It’s now a Whataburger. That same year, Salty Iguana downsized at the Olathe location to cut costs.
Salty Iguana is known for its Iguana dip (white pepper cheese and spinach), fajitas, street tacos and margaritas.
Mexican restaurant Coconut bowling5621 W. 135th St. in Overland Park, too closed recently and will now only function as a catering business and for private functions.
