Woman dies after crash in Barlby

A woman died in an accident tonight.

North Yorkshire Police say motorists are urged to avoid the A63 in Barlby while a police investigation is underway at the scene.

This happened at the sponsored intersection, which has the junction of the A1 and Magazine Road, at around 4.44 pm today (Wednesday, 2 June).

The collision involved a small blue car, a small black car and a gray panel van.

Sadly, the woman driving the blue car died on the spot after receiving CPR from a passing nurse and firefighters using a defibrillator.

The man sitting in the passenger seat of the blue car is undergoing treatment at the hospital, which is not considered serious. An air ambulance landed on the spot.

This section of the A63 will be closed to traffic until further notice.

Motorists should avoid the area and follow diversions imposed by highways.

Any witnesses are asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and speak to the force control room. Please quote reference no. 12210130779 while providing details.
