Women taken from African mothers by Belgium seek compensation

Lea Tavares Mujinga, Monique Bintu Bingi, Noelle Verbeken, Simone Ngalula and Marie-Jose Loshi hope that Belgium will finally acknowledge its responsibility in the suffering endured by thousands of mixed children, known as “metis”, who were torn from families and placed in religious institutions and homes of Belgian authorities who ruled the area from 1908 to 1960.
