Luis Gil didn’t last long on tuesday and left Yankees‘ game against the Guardians with a trainer at his side in the fourth inning.
Moments later, the Yankees announced that the right-hander left with lower back tightness. The team’s orthopedic doctor saw Gil after the pitcher’s departure. The right-back will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.
More information about Luis Gil: he was seen at the stadium by Dr. David Trofa, the #Yankees‘ orthopedist. He will be assessed again tomorrow. No photography is currently planned.

Thankfully for the Yankees, it’s not an arm injury for Gil, who is deep into his first full season back from Tommy John surgery. His workload has been a topic of conversation all season, and he lined up on extra rest on Tuesday.
Gil, who last pitched on Aug. 12, went three innings while allowing three hits, three earned runs, six walks, three strikeouts and 78 pitches. He let a solo home run to the no. 9-hitter Brayan Rocchi just before leaving the game in the fourth.
Gil, 26, has now logged a career-high 124.2 innings pitched this season. He has a 3.39 ERA over 24 starts.
This is an evolving story.
