ORGAN donors and their families are the inspiration behind a new statue at York Hospital.
Created by local artist Dan Savage, the birds are located in the welfare garden and were funded by York Teaching Hospital Charity. Dr Ferguson said: “Even if the law has changed, families will continue to be reached before organ donation is made. It’s very important to talk to your families and let them know what you want to happen.
“We really need these conversations to take place in families and in our own hospitals so that everyone is clear if the situation does come up.”
